The Senate of Canada has officially recognized the Humans in Flight project for its exceptional contributions to civic engagement. The recognition took place during an event held on Parliament Hill, attended by various stakeholders, including MPs and senators.

Senator Victor Oh extended congratulations to the dynamic team behind Humans in Flight and commended the project for deepening empathy and understanding of refugees and newcomers. He stated:

"It was my honour to recognize the remarkable achievements of our young leaders and celebrate their passion, dedication and impactful contribution to our country.”

This official recognition, signed on February 7, 2024, underscores the significance of the Humans in Flight initiative. The project goes beyond storytelling and photographic collection, aiming to reframe the dominant narratives about refugees and their contributions to Canada.
